Prevailing Wage Information

this information please record the following:
Contractors performing public works projects are familiar with the term 'PREVAILING WAGES'. Basically these are the regional hourly rates for journeymen and trades person on public works projects. A contractor will be subject to substantial penalties for failing to pay those wages.
The prevailing wage rates are usually listed in the bid package put out by the public entity. The most accurate information is what is obtained from the awarding agency. However, information on prevailing wages can also be found on the Internet at: >a http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlsr/statistics_research.html The DLSE's phone number is 415 703-4774 for further information.
On FEDERAL PUBLIC WORKS you may want to contact the U.S. Department of Labor at 202 693-0073 for federal prevailing wage information. PLEASE KEEP THIS INFORMATION ON FILE FOR FUTURE REFERENCES.
